What can we learn from The Block?
It’s incredibly popular and has millions of eager Australians tuning in each week, but what impact does The Block have on the property market? Now into its fifteenth season, The Block continues to be a favourite and reiterates the nation’s obsession with property.
The Block takes you on a journey
Long-time auctioneer on The Block and hockingstuart’s Albert Park Director David Wood has picked up some key insights gleaned from the TV show for anybody wanting a winning result come auction day. “Don’t underestimate the value of a fast-paced auction,” says Wood.
Another thing to consider is the styling and visibility. “Viewers are taken on a journey through the Apartments week by week, there is an emotional investment. Consider how you can style and create a similar connection for potential buyers to your home when selling,” shares Wood. In terms of the visibility, it may not be possible to have your home on national TV but make sure your agent is promoting it in as many ways as possible – on websites, social media, print publications – to get people excited about the property.
Over the years The Block has been a visible barometer for the property market at large, tracking its ebbs and flows, with this year being one of the most anticipated.
Do everything you can for the best outcome
These may seem like simple considerations but when it comes to selling your home, you want to do everything you can to get the best outcome, and that’s exactly what The Block teaches us.
