Stellar results from The Block caps off hockingstuart’s biggest weekend of the year
In the midst of all the negativity about Melbourne’s cooling property market, hockingstuart agents have celebrated one of the biggest weekends of the year. With strong auction results across the board, a number of Victorian suburbs saw 100% clearance rates, but it was the results from both hockingstuart representatives at The Block 2018 auction on Sunday, which highlighted that the right team can get great results in any market.
Everyone’s a winner with The Block 2018
hockingstuart looked after two teams on The Block 2018. While neither of hockingstuart’s clients were the overall winners on the day, all the teams managed to sell over their reserve price to net a tidy sum and take home, and a combined profit of $624,000 for the hockingstuart teams.
Auctioneer David Wood and his colleagues Emily Adams and Stephanie Evans knew that Kerrie and Spence’s kitchen in particular – which snagged a perfect score from the judges during kitchen week – would attract buyers to Apartment 1 and said the whole team were happy with the results. “Of course we were hoping to take home the win, but the fact remains that this is still a win for Kerrie and Spence, who profited $415,000 and as such, are winners in every sense of the word. They’re a brilliant team and an absolute pleasure to work with.”
Meanwhile, Jess and Norm’s penthouse views from Apartment 4 might not have netted them the highest profit on the day, but at $209,000 over the reserve, the couple are still thrilled with the result that hockingstuart agent Sam Inan managed to secure. “While it would have been nice to get the overall win, this is still a great result for Jess and Norm who have reaped the rewards of months of hard work. They’re a fantastic couple and I’m so pleased we were able to make a sale on the day.”
Kerrie and Spence’s results were just shy of 2017 winners Elyse and Josh’s $447,000 profit and $28,000 above Jason and Sarah’s second place winnings. With exceptional results across the board for all five teams this year, Jess and Norm’s fifth place profit was still well above last year’s results – netting them $48,000 more than Ronnie and Georgia who placed third in 2017.
hockingstuart clearance rates above the Melbourne average
While The Block saw 100% clearance rates for all of the Gatwick’s apartments, the wider Victorian hockingstuart team saw a strong spring weekend too, with nine offices across our network – including Caulfield, Glen Iris and Altona – also seeing exceptional clearance rates of 100% at their auctions over the weekend.
Duncan McMillan from hockingstuart Altona also started the weekend on a high note, capping off his office’s 100% clearance rate by selling a property in the inner-west suburb of Brooklyn for 3% above the market price.
While the current news cycle about the Victorian property market cooling is making some people hesitant, our results show that buyers are still coming out in droves for the right properties.
