AREA Profile

Why would you ever leave Yarraville? It has its own multi-screen cinema, a raft of speciality shops, restaurants and excellent cafes, a skate park, great schools, its own football team the Western Bulldogs are only just down the road - and what may well be the world's oldest (perhaps only) mouth organ band. So there's something for everybody.

There's plenty of potential for exploring too; the whole area is dotted with playgrounds and parklands including the gorgeous, meandering oasis that is Cruickshank Park while Williamstown's bay beach and the rolling greenery of Footscray Park are only minutes away. There's a charming mix of dwellings here, occupied by an increasingly eclectic mix of young families, professionals and long time residents from all walks of life.

The intersection of Ballarat and Anderson Sts forms the heart of the quaint, Yarraville shopping village which, despite its country town feel, plays host to some very sophisticated wining and dining. There's a real feeling of community here, where the whole of Yarraville converges to shop, play, relax, and occasionally play the mouth organ. The local council is Maribyrnong.
